D810 / D800E / D800 / D4 adding WIFI hack (Nikon WU-1a wi-fi)

Hi all,

In lieu of the $1000 cost to add wifi to the D4 & D800..... I heard of hacks being developed 2 years ago. Have any of you heard of any updates to the D800 wifi hacks? I'm listing some before just to share info (with the D810 coming out), as well as to prompt conversation if anyone is technically adept enough to comment or just to show interest. Obviously there is a huge difference in price, but also in features, between the $1000 units for D4/D800 and the $50 units for Df/D600/every other Nikon. Why didn't Nikon make the D4/D800 compatible with the $50 units AS WELL, just for a friendly option vs. the $1000 professional system? *shrug* I have read that it has offended a lot of users. Regardless, these hacks may help to bridge the gap. I also heard that Nikon will open up some of its software, some kind of software developers kit with limited ability to help develop the D810 (probably for video features -- you noticed that Nikon is selling the D810 with a videographers kit, including that Video Ninja 2 3rd party thing, but of course there are other items that the video industry prefers). This might also prompt more hacks. Anyway, if any thoughts, please share. I'm looking for less than $200, preferably less than $100 -- not $1000 (you can get the most advanced wireless home internet MODEM for for $200 bucks that works on gigabits; Nikon should be pretty much ashamed of their poor offering).

This technical presentation is pretty cool -- but its just gibberish to me:

There was some kind of D4 workaround as well:

Not sure if this crossplatform is working:

I'm not really familiar with what EYE-FI can do with the D800 file sizes vs. these kind of options.

Any thoughts?  Anything better out there or on the horizon?
