Pentax 18-135 Kit lens and other lenses

In one of my recent visit to the camera store, I handled the Pentax K-3. I was impressed by the handling of the camera (Solid feel, nice grip etc.). Checking the kit lens, I found that K-3 comes with an 18-135mm lens. Could anyone tell me how good/bad it is? (in terms of sharpness, distortion etc.) I assume that it can only be used outdoor (or more suitable in outdoor).

I am also seeing that lenses like 50mm F1.8 and 35mm F2.4 are very cheap (less than $150). How good are they? (in terms of optical quality - I understand that they are not Ultrasonic or similar technology).

I know that Pentax has some really nice lenses (limited lenses) in their line up, but those are much more expensive. For a simple K-3 kit, what would someone recommend? (for casual shooting, family portraits, kids etc)
