This is basically a bokeh test, and the 16-35/2.8 wins.

Let me guess - you focused in the center which is very deep into the scene, and expect the corners, lying on a focal plane much much closer to you to be in focus?

I am curious why do you think this is a bokeh test.  Is it because the the DoF from the focus point in the center will not cover the branches a the edge?   If that is the case, it would be good to ask how far is the camera to the focus point to see whether the DoF covers every thing or not.
