Hi I thought I would add this information for those who would like to visit North Yorkshire or who have fond memories, today the first stage of the tour started at Leeds and finished in Harrogate The TV coverage over the nearly 5 hours of the stage was superb and many places of interest to visitors were shown on the program the included Fountains Abby Castles Cathedrals , and all the towns on the route. If you are interested in this area try to view the coverage of the race , the second stage is also in Yorkshire tomorrow starting in the historic Heralded town of York and ending in Sheffield.

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure."

My husband recorded yesterday's race and marked down the times at which they passed places we visited.

As we were sightseeing there were "roads closed" signs all over the place and we were glad we were there before the Tour!

Happy to report that a newby at roundabouts, my husband successfully negotiated nine of them on the way from our rental in Patrick Brompton Hall near Bedale to Leeds Bradford Airport, with the help of our GPS (Sat Nav in Britspeak).  There's no way he could have made that trip successfully with a paper map!
