Rx100 m3 5 axis stabilisation

There has been little mentioned (or should I say discussed in here) about this new system on the m3. I understand that it is basically a heavily cropped image that is used and I have heard that it makes the video more grainy. Could any readers please provide examples and thoughts on how this new system is in reality.

I have an olympus ep5 with the amazing 5 axis system but the codec at 20mbps is pretty poor. I appreciate the sony system is not supposed to be as good but what do people think the quality of the heavily cropped m3 version at 50mbps v the Olympus footage would be?

I am looking to get the new m3 when it is released in the UK.
