D810 or Pentax 645Z for photo safari?
Jul 6, 2014

I currently have a D800E which I am quite happy with. I am about to travel on a photo trip (landscape) for 3 weeks and need to take 2 bodies.  In the past I would use my D800E and the main camera and a D700 as backup. However, with the release of the D810 has caused me to think that a second body of similar capability would be awesome. I have some wide Zeiss glass and the 14-24.

Of course, one thing leads to another and I am thinking that for a (fair) bit more a Pentax 645Z plus one wide lens would be a better (albeit expensive) option. I have used Phase One in the past and the detail is superb, but the cost is just too much for me to contemplate so Pentax would be a reasonable substitute.

What are your thoughts?
