I shot adapted vintage lenses for 3 years on my G1.  For the street I would use a Vivitar 24/2.8 (Minolta mount) @ f5.6 pre-focused @ 10feet.  This gave me in focus from about 7 to 18 feet.  Here is a shot from the hip sample:
