Making the RX-100m3 mics more directional

I love the photos and videos from my RX-100m3, and in my mind the main thing separating the camera from perfection is the lack of a 3.5 mm mic input (I can think of many ways to mount a decent mic to the top, just not of any to input the signal).

The internal mics could be made significantly more useful if they were pointed to the front of the camera. As is, my own talking ends up being 5x louder than that of my kids whom I'm filming. So I started wondering about ways to "scoop up" sound coming from my subjects with some sort of hardware hack, i.e., adhering tiny half cups of some sort around both microphones. Any clever ideas from the MacGyvers among you?
