If film was photography for 100 years, how long will digital last before next phase?

If we say that film was the dominant mode of photography for approximately 100 years, say 1900 to 2000, and I know we can argue more exact time, then how long do we expect digital to dominate, before the next better medium? Or will people argue that everything to come will have to be some variant of binary code? Will there be a liquid or gas or crystal that will not use binary code?

Will there Possibly be a use of genetic code to do more than binary code? IE shapes instead of numbers!

Just throwing out a thought for discussion.
