DSLR - Why no leaf shutters - are they really that expensive?

I am thinking that compared to focus motor, image stabilisation, existing aperture blades and all that stuff that is in a lens, adding a leaf shutter should be relatively trivial. The aperture blades already need to be there, how hard can it be to "upgrade" them to a true leaf shutter?

Why are manufacturers not doing this? Would it really be too expensive?
