Hi Harold!

I have been to Italy many, many times... I'm still regulary return to it. This autumn I will visit Venice again.

When I travel alone I usually take with me Canon EOS 6D, TS-E 17mm and Canon G1X and that's it. This combination is small enough not to attract to many attention and I'm comfortable to go around all day. Eventually, I add EF 17-40 lens with the combo and tripod if I decide to do some long exposure photos. If there is someone to help me with carrying then I take third body with some longer lens (EOS 5D MkII + EF 100-400mm).

In Italy and I would say into the whole Mediterranean area good wide angle is a must for exteriors and interiors. If you like taking photos in museums and galleries than you have to take as fast lens as you have with you, because it is usually dark inside of them.

On this link you can see what I did managed to photograph in Italy:

I wish you a good time in Italy!
