Curious: Why do so many beginners feel need to say they aren't Pro?

This is NOT a rant - just behavioral curiosity, I see it all the time from first time posters looking for gear decision help.

"Now, I'm no Pro photographer or anything...".

It doesn't seem to matter whom is posting, Baby mammas, teenagers, tech challenged men of all ages.
I guess what we already know, that beginners do not, is that IF they were Pro shooters they would not need to be asking novice questions about gear as their first post on an internet forum.
Any ideas why beginners feel the need to include this forgone conclusion as such a frequent disclaimer?
