Try setting the camera to manual focus and then turning it off and on again (or press and release the lens release button).

I don't have the 12-32, but other panasonic lenses I have are close to infinity focus when they initially power on. "close" means they aren't exactly at infinity but you can only tell the difference at big apertures. I've taken photos with my 14/2.5 pancake lens this way at f/5.6 and it works fine.

I don't really know of a better way other than buying one of the Olympus lenses with distance scales on them.
