Good progress for xtrans open source raw converters
3 months ago

As an X-T1 owner and fan of opensource programs, I've been helping Ingo Weyrich to adapt to RawTherapee the x-trans demosaicing algorithm found in dcraw. The current development of RawThrerapee now allows to successfully load and demosaic x-trans file. For now you have to use patches and compile the code, but it's still good news. Here's the link to the x-trans issue and patches: http://code.google.com/p/rawtherapee/issues/detail?id=2415

The speedup in progress for RawTherapee was possible thanks to help from Darktable the source code comments (very insightful), which also has a development branch for x-trans support on Dan Torop's repository: http://www.darktable.org/redmine/issues/9951

So now for linux and Mac OS X users, you have both RawTherapee and Darktable development branches which support x-trans raf files. For Windows users, it's also possible to compile a Windows executable of RawTherapee.
