Barred Owl juveniles
Jun 22, 2014

I first spotted these owlets on May 1. They have grown considerably since then, but they still have some growing to do. I shot these on Thursday just before sunset with my K3+1.4xAW+DA*300. Cropped for composition and down-sized for the web.

I call this one Snowflake because she has more white feathers like dad.

The other owlet I call Leo. Leo seems larger and more advanced in development than Snowflake.

Here is the reason I call this one Leo.

Dad was watching in the background. I think he was going to give his chicks some hunting lessons that evening.
