SX50 finally got a rock squirrel today
We see these guys from time to time but they are very reclusive compared to our frequent visitor the fox squirrel. Rock squirrels are actually a ground squirrel. The largest variety. They are usually seen in and around the rocky creek bottom not far from the house. It was definitely a surprise to spot this one in a tree.
My wife spotted this one nibbling on one of her corn cob feeders in an oak tree by the house and called out to me. I grabbed my SX50 and managed to get a few frames through a double pane window on that side of the house before it took off. This is the first one I've got a camera on in the 35 years we have lived here. Range was about 35 feet.
What an invaluable tool these ultra zooms are !
