Well, I'm back from vacation now. I saw people charging various devices (including an iPhone) in the camp site showers but I don't think I could do it. I suspect that national park campers are probably an extremely honest group of folks. But I have "trust issues." It's not them. It's me.

It's all about power being available now with so many iPhone/iPad/iPod/Kindle/GPS/games/whatever gadgets that people carry now, so at every campsite we used in New Zealand last year it was hard to find a power outlet that was not "polluted" by these non-essential (non-camera) devices being charged. People just plugged in and walked away, they always seemed to be there when they returned. Never heard any screams.

For that trip I used those Wasabi like chargers that run off 12V and made an adapter that had crocodile clips to connect to the hire car battery and an appropriate small plug that fitted the charger. That way I could leave the charger on and close the lid on the engine room so the charger was safe while we went walkies or went to sleep, made sure to remove it of course before I drove anywhere.

Regards....... Guy
