Second battery - different mAh ratings

Looking at picking up a spare battery for my new ELPH. As everyone knows, aftermarket battery prices vary, but seems like mAh ratings do too. Genuine Canon is rated 3.7 v @ 760 mAh. Halcyon are rated 3.7v @ 1500 mAh!

1. Are these numbers even close to accurate? That would mean, in theory, the battery should last roughly twice as long as a Canon.

2. If the numbers are just pumped up, do they last close to as long?

3. If the numbers are right, can it damage the camera?

4. Any tried and true aftermarket brands? Two Halcyons for $12.00 sounds good if they don't crap out or blow up my camera.
