G5 long exposure = long write time?
Jun 14, 2014

Maybe I am missing something completely, but I'm completely confused as to why, after shooting, say, a 25 second exposure on my G5, I then sit waiting another 25 seconds for the camera to either process or write the image. A 5 second exposure? 5 second wait. 2 second exposure? 2 second wait.
I'm baffled. What is going on that I am missing? Faster shutter speeds don't result in any wait, and the file size is exactly the same.
It's crazy. It's like there's a little man inside my camera who has to review the entire exposure before it's sent to the card.

Please tell me there is a button or a setting that I am failing to see.

All I want is a 10-300mm perfectly rectilinear zoom lens with a constant aperture of f.95 that fits in my pocket. Is that too much to ask?
