Yes, this is a bizarre topic for this forum. Sorry about that, but we're headed to Australia and new Zealand (from Florida), and I ain't lugging' my new 800e all that way for three weeks. So, I'd like to know what point and shoot is up to the standards of the 800/800e audience.

I've researched the topic until I'm blue in the face, and so far my contenders are Olymkpus Stylus 1, Sony DSC RX100 II, COOLPIX P7800, and PowerShot G1 X Mark II. The Sony was in my sights, but 24-70 Zoom??

Any thoughts. I want RAW capability, HD Movie, and good battery life. Greedy, I know!

Sony RX100 I or Sony RX100 II. Unless you can manage with fixed focal lenght, in which case Nikon Coolpix A, Ricoh GR. By the way, RX100 I or II focal length is 28-100mm, 24-70 is RX100 III but is new and not available yet.

Thank you for the insight. What I'm seeing so far is encouraging.
