My Panasonic 14-45 f/3.5-5.6 is sharper than my Oly 12-40 f/2.8!

My Panasonic 14-45 f/3.5-5.6 is sharper than my Oly 12-40 f/2.8!

I recently bought an Olympus 12-40 f/2.8, after reading rave reviews on how sharp this lens is supposed to be. My idea was to use the lens as my general purpose lens, both for hiking and for indoor use.

I noticed that the photos of my first hike were ok, but not necessarily super sharp, and so I decided to do a comparison with my much much cheaper Panasonic 14-45 f/3.5-5.6. It seems that, at f/5.6, the Panasonic is much sharper!

Is my 12-40 defective or do others notice the same?
