Best lens for our trip to Grand Teton & Yellowstone?
Jun 3, 2014

We will be going on a trip to Grand Teton NP and Yellowstone NP and I am needing a lens upgrade for the photography I will be doing there. I don't have a lot of experience with lens purchases, so I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

I have the Nikon D3100 and for lenses I have the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 normal lens and the 50mm f/1.8. I love both of those, but I will be needing something different for zooming in on wildlife that may be far away and for landscape photos (mountains, meadows, waterfalls, geysers, forests, etc.)

What lens(es) would you suggest I purchase for these types of subjects? Ideally, I would prefer to spend $600ish or less. (I was looking at the Tamron 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6...?)

Thank you for your help!
