CIF - Sigma 8-16mm 1:4.5~5.6

FWIW: I just now realized that the Sigma 8-16mm 1:4.5~5.6 has an AF/MF switch on the lens and is capable of doing CIF. So, I was thinking that with it's great DOF it might be interesting to try doing CIF against some hummingbirds approaching the feeder. It is too danged windy right now for me to set up for this kind of shooting. However, I did a quick test where I set the focal distance to 1 foot and used my fingers to trigger the camera. I used multi-point focus. I set the aperture to f/16. It might be better to set the focal distance to 1.5 feet though. The clouds in the sky as well as the trees in the far background were not perfectly in focus but they were indeed close enough to make for a very interesting image.

The danged wind has been blowing everday. As soon as it quits I will give this a try myself. In the meantime some of you that own the lens might like to give it a try.

Cheers.

Ron
