Ricoh Imaging (and Leica too) are making profit, in fact
In reply to beholder3, 11 months ago

Go and figure that. Can you explain it?

Can those smart@ss analysts (who were predicting, btw, only three camera makers will stay in business) explain how two smallest camera makers are profitable, and many others employing far bigger ambitions are not?

Indeed, and quite visible from the latest Ricoh’s annual report ending March 2014, and one before that, Ricoh Imaging division is profitable, as is the the whole of the Ricoh company. In addition, the size of Pentax camera market is growing too.

Two years ago Pentax Ricoh Imaging (which makes Pentax cameras) part of Ricoh incurred costs of the restructuring in the balance sheets and made “a loss” technically, but that was not operational cost due to lost sales. (In fact sales grew all this time.) Today Ricoh Imaging is happy to announce sales are steadily increasing.

Weird thing that camera user market.
