Is there the beginning of a photographic migration beginning?

Lets look at the origins of the 35 mm. Film technology had improved, a smaller film size, smaller camera and smaller lens could deliver great results, not quite as good but still great. The results demonstrated a serious photographer could move from a wagon hauling his equipment to a shoulder bag. Everyone, including begrudging pros eventually accepted the strength of the new format.  Boom ---- the 35 became the standard. Never quite met the quality of the larger formats, but none the less the advantages out weighed the small IQ differences for all but the most discriminating junkies.

I think we are close to this move with the intro of the M 4/3's. Same reason to abandon larger format DSLR's for the M 4/3's, as drove the original move to the 35 mm.

I find it difficult for anyone, looking for a new camera system who would not seriously consider a M 4/3's over a conventional DSLR -- except someone who is primarily tied to the studio setting. There are very few disadvantages, but the advantages are many ---- beginning with the difficulty in taking a great photo with a lens that is in your car and not in your bag.  A M 4/3 system with 4 or 5 lenses can be carried in a sling back bag easily all day.  Try this with a conventional DSLR.

History always repeats! The move to smaller sensors may not be to the M 4/3, but a move will be made, IMHO.

Any comments?
