Look, why the Quattro is the way to go and why it should be more supported, than the former one...

An example, why Sigma needs the Quattro (vs. the competition like NX cameras):

NX300hSLI00100NR0.SRW processed with RawTherapee and downsized to 15 MP for comparison

(you find the corresponding SD1 RAW below)

...simply because some other manufacturers deliver quite similar quality with an APS sized sensor - especially if not viewed on screen and especially at higher ISO, than base ISO.

-

We already have a quality nowadays, which was not possible 10 years ago...

...but 10 year old pictures - even far older - were not dull, therefore.

-

Thus, the focus is slowly shifting to useability, whilst the lenses slowly try to catch up with the higher demands...

...no need to shed a tear because the Quattro Foveon is different to the Merrill.

-

It will be better, for sure, if the software wont let the Quattro down...

...and the Sigma cameras also.

-

I will wait until RAWs from Quattro cameras will be supported by a satisfying software and / or until the NX1 is out, before I make further conclusions and decisions on this theme.

-

However, I want to encourage the waiting people, with this thread to have a bit more patience...

...and not to condemn the Quattro, before it had the chance to show it's capabilities in comparison to the former sensors...

...because progress happens - with, or without Sigma, or other manufacturers.

-

Take pictures and look at them - from different views!
