Minimum Resolution for Large Prints
May 30, 2014

I have a friend that wants to enlarge some of my wildlife photos to 6' x 4'.  These are shot with a D800, so the uncropped photos have a resolution of 7360x4912 but some of the photos have been slightly cropped.  I would normally try to keep a resolution of 300dpi in a print but am wondering how low I can go before it starts looking bad up close.   Could I get away with 100dpi?  How low have people gone on large prints before the results look too soft.
