Why do we say "shoot" with a camera?

In Portuguese language we always "take"  a photo and sometimes we "make" a photo (never a "picture").

We also never "shoot" a photo.

Only now and then you can hear some idiot who "shoots" a picture, but you will never hear "take" a picture.
