D800 live view metering question

Has anyone noticed that using the regular auto focus sensors typically generates a brighter exposure than live view does with identical settings? I was trying to test a new macro lens in my kitchen shooting a small orchid. The LEDs in the ceiling were turned up high and I was using a tripod and shooting on aperture priority. In matrix metering, the shot taken with the auto focus sensors was always brighter. In spot it was the same, always brighter. In center weighted, the shots were usually identical with respect to exposure.

I'm curious about the results. I thought that live view used the same metering program that the regular auto focus sensors use. I'd appreciate any feedback because I'm kind of stumped on how this could occur.
