This forum has been dying for awhile. When the K10D was introduced, there was a period where the oldest post was 1-2 hours. Even when the buzz had long died down, it was still unheard of to have posts a day old. Pentax forums probably had a lot to do with it. Several good posters left or were banned for trivial matters and went over there. I don't know if this forum is a barometer for Pentax health, but we should all hope not.

I think you make a good point, that the problems here have at least as much to do with DPReview as they do with Ricoh.

But there's also an aspect of it that's about the camera industry as a whole.  Digital cameras are maturing, and this means two things: first, snapshooters don't require an entry-level DSLR anymore just to be able to get a shot of their kids running around, and second, it doesn't matter nearly as much as it used to which camera body you have.  To have a different brand, or an older generation of the same brand, doesn't make nearly as much difference as it used to.

Putting these together means that at any given time, there are far fewer people comparison-shopping the different interchangeable-lens cameras, or debating their merits.  The debate has become less interesting and less urgent.

The turnover in DSLR lens models is probably also slowing down, though it's not obvious because the mirrorless makers are all staying busy, and so is Sigma.

We get frustrated with Pentax because they don't update their lenses, but I think if they just came out with new Star lenses with a replacement for the SDM motor, they'd be in a position where there's quite legitimately not all that much they need to do in any given year to keep their lens line solid.  A 100-400 here, a 12-24 replacement there, and they're really doing pretty decently.
