I now have a camera that rivals medium format film for resolution while provided un-imagined convenience what am I supposed to talk about how I haven't had an SDM failure? No one wants to hear that either. I would like some more lenses to choose from we could talk about that.

I'm glad you like your camera. However, I would argue that it doesn't rival medium format film. I would argue you need atleast 50 megapixels to equal medium format film. Some sources say as much as 63 to 125 megapixels. http://www.jonathangazeley.com/2011/02/how-many-megapixels-do-you-get-from-film/

More likely, your camera is probably on par with a 35mm film camera. I don't like to argue, but I have a friend into medium format film and she keeps me straight on this.

I shoot a lot of film and it's mostly for aesthetic reasons not resolution. If you are careful with medium format film using a tripod and ensuring it's scanned well you can match the resolution of the K-3 but the K-3 can snap away all day with far less effort.

this is a comparison of the K-3 and my Rolleiflex 2.8

I love shooting film but the K-3 changes things when it comes to ultimate image quality.

This belongs in a thread all in itself. The link you supplied scanned the medium format film in at 27 megapixels. Before you can start to compare the 2, I would think you'd have to scan medium format film in at 50 megapixels and higher (63 to 125 even).

Your k3 is closer to 35mm film, as 35mm film is often compared to 20 megapixels.

The only Pentax camera that can give images as good as a medium format film is the Pentax 645z fifty megapixel model just released: http://www.dpreview.com/news/2014/04/15/hands-on-with-the-pentax-645z

You end up with bigger files but not more detail. 25mpixels is 5000x5000 50Mpixels is 7100x7100.  Believe me I've been championing film over digital for years but your overstating it's resolving power  that's not what makes it so awsome.  It's best attribute is the ability to capture highlight and shadow detail in the same image where digital craps out.  Plus the cameras are still awesome .    On a side note this is activity on this quite forum.
