Sony A7 & Adapted Lens: Darker Band on half of photo

To begin with, I'm new to photography and am learning the very basics. What I've learned is that it is much more difficult than I initially imagined, especially editing.

My issue, I've been using adapted lenses lately and actually prefer manual focusing. Maybe I'm weird, but it seems more fun to me. I recently purchased a Nikon 180mm f2.8 AIS and the results have been really good, IMHO, but after reviewing a few pictures taken of my son at the park I've noticed that half the photo was darker than the rest on the left in portrait orientation and top in landscape. These photos were taken on a bright sunny day and the shadows were harsh. No flash was used, so it's not a sync issue.

Is it possibly a light leak?

I haven't noticed it on all of the images using this lens. Still learning and still having fun.

Any help would be appreciated.
