Why no fast 24-105mm equivalent in m4/3?

For all the talk about how many lens choices there are in m4/3, this is a big hole right in the middle for the genre. From Sony e mount to every apsc and ff dslr brand, you can find a fixed aperture or fast aperture lens for your system in this range.

The 12-40 sounds like a great lens, but it's really just your typical kit lens zoom range, which frankly isn't all that exciting. You can walk most of that range typically, and it's shy of a portrait length. I am not a big zoom person, so if I am going to get one, I want to make it worth it. And the 12-50 sounds like a dog.

So is there any rumors of anything in the works? I would jump into m43 with a zoom lens for a quick 'take with me camera'. I already have enough primes in another system that I don't need to duplicate.
