Fuzzy/unclear wildlife pics with canon 70D

So I recently upgraded from a T3 to a 70D. I am having trouble getting crisp shots and am unsure of the cause. Because I am into wildlife, having time to set up a tripod is not always feasible. I really need help with this. For instance yesterday I went out and took a bunch of pictures of goslings. Pretty much all of them are fuzzy. If they are not fuzzy, the auto focus fails to focus on the important aspects of the image (i.e. the animal, its eyes). Or, as shown below, only one subject is in focus and all the others are blurry.

On the whole I would say I am happy with less than 1% of the pictures I'm taking of wildlife.

Unfortunately my vision is not ideal and I must rely on the auto focus feature. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

f/5, 1/250sec, ISO-100, 180mm

f/5.1/250sec, iso-100, 150mm

ANSWER:
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Canon EOS 70D
