Thanks,

Is this happening when zooming with F4, or it is happening also when zooming with F8 aperture ?

Do you have Settings Effects on, or off?
What metering option?
Is the scene a mix of bright areas with dark areas? (For example, if most of the scene is "dark" but it flips to most of the scene is "bright" as you zoom.

Is it happening while keeping the shutter half pressed ?

The iris opens / closes when you zoom in / out, for keeping the same F stop, so maybe you have a lag in this aperture adjustment. If you are at the F4 margin this problem could be amplified.

Also could be a problem of continuous focus adjustment while zooming. Changing settings like AF-C, AF-S, Lock-On AF, AEL with shutter, Focus with shutter, Pre AF, could point to the problem.

I tried to replicate your problem with A6000... I can not make it happen.. but I don't have the SEL1670z, maybe it is a lens dependent issue.
