Focussing problems with D7100 and Tamron 17-50mm f 2.8 lens
May 13, 2014

I recently bought a D7100 and a Tamron 17-50mm f 2.8 lens and on my first outing with this combination I noticed  a few miss focussed shots, this was only the borders or edges of the photo's (RAW). Most photos were taken at f8 and  I'm at a loss to work out what caused these few badly focussed photos. At first I thought it might have been the lens but then I look at a photo at the same focal length  a minute after the bad one and it's quiet OK. I had this lens on a D5200 and I never notice any badly focussed photos especially the edges, it was sharp as from border to border on the D5200. The majority of the 300 or so photos were OK.

Here's some examples

Edges out of focus

same focal range but sharpness is OK

Soft focus on the Edges

Focus OK
