I have an old 18-55mm that was the original kit with my NEX3. Updated the firmware to V02, and PDAF works perfectly with this lens. Not only the obvious speed, but all the proper indicators in AF-C as well.

No worries.

Thanks for this, the subject scared me since I ordered the body only. I like my 18-55 and that's one reason I stuck with Sony. Can I update the lens FW in my Nex-5N, or do I need to wait for the 6000 to arrive? It never occurred to me that lens FW ever got updated!

You have to wait for A6000 to be able to update lens. It has to be updated only on PDAF camera.
