Sinusoidal siemens stars - test image query
2 months ago

Hi all,

I'm asking for a small service which should take no more than a few minutes from those willing to help.

I am interested in seeing the results of various Sigma cameras regarding two test images. These are the black & white sinusoidal siemens star and it's blue & red variant.

I'd appreciate if you'd take one test image of each and post it here in this thread. Please name your camera in the title.

All you need is a camera and an inkjet printer. Place the subject into the center of the frame and focus as well as possible. Please process the images with SPP with no sharpening etc. (Also, please do not take the shortcut of shooting an image on the computer screen.)

You can find the images in this post http://www.openphotographyforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13217 .

Direct links for the image files to be printed:

B&W:

for Canon/HP http://www.xs4all.nl/~bvdwolf/main/downloads/JTF144cy-130mm_600PPI.png

for Epson http://www.xs4all.nl/~bvdwolf/main/downloads/JTF144cy-130mm_720PPI.png

Red/Blue:

for Canon/HP http://www.xs4all.nl/~bvdwolf/main/downloads/JTF144cy-130mm_RB_600PPI.png

for Epson http://www.xs4all.nl/~bvdwolf/main/downloads/JTF144cy-130mm_RB_720PPI.png

Select the files based on the brand of your printer. If another brand (or god forbid, a laser), then the Canon/HP is likely better choise.

I will post comparison shots from a typical Bayer CFA equipped camera (with a mild AA-filter). As a teaser I'll mention that the blue-red version is quite a bit worse than the b&w.

Thank's in advance!
