Looking at three telephoto lenses, opinions appreciated
4 months ago

Hey guys, I'm looking for a pentax K-mount telephoto lens I can shoot fully manual (aperture, focus) on my non-pentax mirrorless camera. One of the lenses I'm looking at is the Pentax-FA 100-300 F4.7-5.8 along with the Promaster 70-300 f4-5.6 and finally the Sigma 70-210mm f4-5.6 UC.

The Pentax 100-300 looks to be nicely light-weight but I had read somewhere it can only be manually focused if attached to a pentax body that has a mf/af switch. Is that true?

I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have about these three lenses or recommend another one. I am going to be shooting mostly from a tripod and mostly landscapes.

No one asked Hemingway what kind of typewriter he used.
