Sigma : how to kill its own market

I bought a SD1M + 17-50 last september for 2200 euros. It is a fine camera which I use for landscape, and I am very happy with it. The same kit is today, seven months later, for sale at the same place for 1200 euros (I am pretty sure I can find it at much lower price). On some resale sites, I have found some in very good shape for around 500 euros.

Even if the future SLR version of the Quattro prove to be a very good camera, better than the SD1M, I can’t imagine buying one : to sell my SD1M for 500, add 1500 or more to get a new camera, which value could go down to 500 six months later, No thanks.

I think that when Sigma decided to cut drastically the price of their current camera end of last year, they have largely wiped out their aficionados niche market.
