In broad strokes, there are two kinds of studio food photography.

There is the highly controlled in-studio photography that involves cooking three turkeys in order to get one with particularly nice browning, and slicing tomatoes bought by a stylist who visit four stores to find produce good enough. And there will be tables, place settings, crystal, etc.

And there's food photography that's a lot more casual; the level of quality we see in Canada every Thursday, when the grocery stores send out printed flyers of this week's specials.

The first kind takes a lot of special studio facilities related to food, not just photography. We had several stoves, several refrigerators, a freezer, sinks that could appear in photos and sinks we could use without having to clean them before we pressed the shutter release.

What's your plan?
