And quit obsessing over L.

All L is is a designation reflecting some lens features. If the lens has the features, it gets an L in its name.

It just so happens that the L-worthy features help make the lens good.

But no better, for any practical purposes, than a 17-55 EF-S 2.8 zoom.

If it was me, I'd get a 70D for product and food shots because of the tilty back, which lets you position the camera much more easily than fixed back does.

What's your client want? For anything up to 16 x 20, which means any web use, giant screen televisions, and packaging, and magazine across two pages, the 70D is just fine.
