Wedding Photography: Do's and Don'ts

I have a friend that was married in mexico couple of month ago. He and his bride are getting "remarried" here in Maine for his family's benefit, a nuptial Mass and a reception. I don't know how much of the original wedding formalities will take place.

He has asked me to be "the photographer." I'm not a pro (he can't afford one). Can anyone with more experience than me (that's just about everyone) provide a helpful list of do's and don'ts for wedding photography so I can do the best I can for him. I have one week to "prepare" in my spare time.

I'll be using my FZ70 (I have not low-light specialist camera) and Rokinon flash with diffuser. At least I'm equipped for the wide views. Can bring a tripod if you think it's required.

I'm not a pro. Images I post are unrestricted. Copy, edit, re-post here as part of the tread or elsewhere. C&C always welcome and encouraged - I'm not touchy about the negatives.
