I found that right now the Milkway is up in the southern part of the sky around 2:30 am in northern California.

Thanks, I am usually shooting with my Sigma 10-20 or Rokinon 8mm Fisheye so 30 secs works well. Never tried with a longer focal length really.... Hmmmm Maybe as a panorama.....

I tried to get up for the Milky Way at 2am but slept through my alarm... DANG IT!
