G1X-II Image Stabilization vs. Tripod

In the manual for the G1X Mark II on p. 37, it shows icons that appear in auto mode for the IS status. One of these indicates IS is off because the camera is mounted to a tripod or otherwise stabilized. I tested this and confirmed that the icon changes from a shaky hand to a camera on a tripod if the camera is not moving. I then quickly took the camera back out of auto mode, lest I forget.

In P/Av/Tv/M, I don't see any icon indicating the IS status. Presumably, if I'm using something other than auto, I am expected to know how I set this setting. Does this mean that the IS is not automatically cancelled in these modes when using a tripod? Is there any way to make this an automatic override other than using auto mode?

Thanks,

Dan
