Minor detail about Quattro
2

A customer service person at Sigma confirmed that the larger red and green pixels of the Quattro should help with the purple/green blotching problem that one sometimes sees in the shadows of some photos taken with pre-Quattro sensors, and which one sees at higher ISOs. Bigger sensels collect more light... Sounds to me like the Quattro is worth waiting for.

On another website someone was complaining that the Quattro's red/green resolution is effectively at 5MP, but if I recall correctly the human retina has more intensity-sensing cells (rods) than color-sensing cells (cones) anyway, so this may not matter practically speaking, and most likely we evolved to detect detail based on the rods' signals.

Found it: 20 times more rods than cones.

However I do wonder whether Sigma will end up employing a Bayer-like interpolation, so as to attempt greater sharpness in red and green channels.
