The point is (for those that don't enjoy satire), every art form has restrictions. The purpose of most is not the ultimate reality, but a subset of reality that we manipulate to obtain a given result. Whether that subset consists of 2, 4, 256 or more colors isn't really that important.

Yes, by why the hideous out cry against wide gamut displays by some?
