luminance histogram - how accurate is it ?

Hi,

I would like to know if the luminance histogram is accurate enough to avoid to clip one color channel ? What are the chances to clip one color channel despite the fact that the luminance histogram did not show blown out highlights ? Even if you use UniWB, you can still clip one channel, right ?

Same question with a light meter . If it measures the reflective light, can I trust it ? Let's say I wan to take a picture of a flower with intense red color, would a light meter help me to expose the photo correctly ?

Last question: do you know any camera which show a rgb raw live histogram ?? I guess it would not be difficult to implement it.

Thanks in advance for your answers,

Christophe
