24mm 1.4 vs sigma 18-35 1.8 on d7100
Apr 25, 2014

I had 24 2.8d in the past on d300 and loved it. Small light cheap used... now with 24 mp dx sensor will it perform too ?
Plus id love 1.4 aperture but not sure at all if im ready for the sticker shock or of its worth it...
I wish nikon made 35 1.8 dx eqv in 24 mm for 35mm FOV on dx cameras
I have 24mm.covered by new tokina 12-28 but f4 is not cutting it sometimes. Its great lens and much better then first 11-16 but its more of a documentary/landscape/street lens rather then creative shallow dof lens...
Also played with sigma 18-35 1.8 in local store and its cool but not sure about reports on the various focusing issues still... even though they got better they are still plagued by it...
Maybe 200 $ 2.8d would do but only stop faster then tokina which is tack sharp btw at f4.
I know some say 24 1.4 is a waste of fx lens on subpar dx body but there isnt many choices out there like this.
Opinions welcomed
I need/want af so samyang/ rokinon is out...
