What happened to D200's 7 Area Wide AF?

D200 can be set to use 7 AF points. This combines a few of the 11 AF sensors to make them wide. I loved this mode on my D200. Did they remove that feature in the newer cameras? I do not believe I can do this in my D90, D700 or Df. Sure I can select a different number of sensors in D700 (e.g. 51, 21, 11, 9 ), but selecting fewer number of sensors do not combine more than 1 sensors to make some sensors wide (at least not in the view finder). Same happens for D90 and Df. Anyone knows why Nikon removed that feature?
